Messy Church at Bakewell Methodist Church

On the third Sunday of each month, at 4:30 p.m., Messy Church is held at Bakewell Methodist Church. Messy Church is a collaboration with the Bakewell Parish Church, where Messy Church is held on the first Sunday of each month at 9:15 a.m.

Messy Church is aimed at people who have never belonged to a church before, and it is for all ages. With Christ firmly at its heart, Messy Church values creativity, celebration, hospitality and fun. It's called Messy Church because God is interested in families who are messy rather than perfect, and also because it describes the creative, exploratory nature of how we worship. The messy approach lets God's spirit blow where he will; it lets learning happen that doesn't rely on teaching and enjoys discipleship that grows spontaneously as well as strategically.

What happens at Messy Church? Every month there is a new theme which is always centred on a Bible story/teaching. A number of different craft activities are provided, allowing opportunities for discussion and reflection, followed by a short period of informal worship with songs, prayers, an interactive talk, and finally time for tea and a chance to build up relationships.

Messy Church is part of The Bible Reading Fellowship (BRF), a Registered Charity. See
